Toddlers

Toddlers at Great Start Kindergarten

Our aim in the Toddler group is to encourage your child to explore and learn, and to encourage them to express their needs. We also encourage and provide them with the opportunity to further develop their skills on an individual basis.

Toddlers also enjoy perfecting physical development skills, such as running, jumping and dancing. Play becomes much more active and social as children engage with each other to create elaborate role play scenarios. Often, this play will involve every day scenarios, such as grocery shopping or visiting the doctor, as your child is learning to make sense of these routine experiences.

During this period of their lives, language begins to flourish, with toddlers developing the confidence to verbally communicate their needs, likes and dislikes.

Toddlers have the curiosity to explore and experience the world around them. Our carers facilitate this by:

  • Encouraging our toddlers to use words / phrases to help in communicating and expressing themselves.
  • Encouraging the value of sharing and co-operation through group play.
  • Encouraging them to develop friendships and gain confidence to interact with others.
  • Aiming to identify and encourage every child’s own unique set of skills and interests during the toddler stage.
